The Cry of Winnie Mandela is a powerful story that links the lives of four "ordinary" South African women with the life of Winnie Mandela. It is the story of five women who wait for their husbands during the long years of struggle against apartheid.

 

Njabulo S. Ndebele is author of the celebrated Fools and Other Stories, as well as the children's book Bonolo and the Peach Tree and The Rediscovery of the Ordinary, a widely known collection of critical essays. He is currently vice chancellor of the University of Cape Town.
